Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear. Hazel Irene James Magness, age 83, now walks with the Lord leaving this temporary home on Friday, November 17th, 2017, in San Angelo, Texas surrounded by family.
Born on August 20th, 1934 to George and Katie James in Orient, Texas, she grew up in Tennyson, Texas and moved to Bronte when she married Bill Magness on December 4th, 1971, staying in Bronte until 1992 and then moving: to Hylton.
Hazel is survived by her brother, Buck James; daughters, Alanda Beatty and husband Charlie of San Angelo, TX, Vicky McCutchen and husband Keith of San Angelo, TX, Betty Halstead and husband Dick of Allen, TX, Jan Magness and fiancé Jerome Hanna of Bronte, TX, Gina Chaney and husband Robert of San Angelo, TX; and son, Billy Magness and wife Rebecka of San Angelo, TX; grandchildren, John, Tiffanie, Landon, Brooke, Britney, Vanessa, Shawn, Ashley, Ryan, Caleb, Mason, Jadyn, Austin, Kyber, and several great grandchildren.
Hazel is preceded in death by her father and mother, George and Katie James; brothers, RL James, George James, Jr. and Melvin James; sisters, Katy Chambers and Dorothy McClure.
Visitation will be held all day Sunday, November 19th, 2017 at Shaffer Funeral Home in Bronte, Texas with family present 2-4 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 20th, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at The First Baptist Church in Bronte, Texas. Burial will follow at Hylton Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home. Pallbearers will include: Landon Beatty, Chris Conatser, Ryan Chaney, Taylor Fuentes, Zach Hanna, Ricky Kozlovsky, Caleb Magness, Mason Magness, and Kyle Sanford.
