Traditional Funerals

At Shaffer Funeral Home, we work together as a team to make sure your family gets the personal service that you deserve.  We can handle your funeral service in one of our chapels, your church, at the graveside, or other location anywhere in the state of Texas and make arrangements for you out of state.

We will work with you to plan the many details that need to be considered and provide you with the information needed to make the many decisions need at the time of need or in advance.

Traditional Funeral Services

In West Texas, a traditional funeral service includes an arrangement conference, embalming, a day of visitation, a funeral service at your church or at our chapel, and a committal service at the cemetery.  Although this is considered a traditional service, there are many variations and nothing is set in stone until your families wishes are met.

Our Services To You

In planning a service like the one mentioned above, we will take care of most of these arrangements for you.  Such as the ones mentioned below.

• We will contact your choice of clergy in accordance with your faith.  Our staff is knowledgeable and experienced in the funeral practices of most religions as well as those of various fraternal orders.  We will make the arrangements with all needed facilities such as church or chapel and provide the clergy with the appropriate information.
• We will help arrange the music desired for your service.
• We can arrange to have flowers ordered and delivered if so desired.
• We will contact the cemetery and make all necessary arrangements at the cemetery of your choice for interments.  We will arrange for the outer burial container (the box or vault) if wanted or required.
• We will arrange to have a escort to get us from the church to the cemetery if so needed.
• We will help your family write and prepare the obituary.  Then send them on to the appropriate papers.
• We will file the death certificate.
• We will contact the Social Security Administration on your behalf to report the death of your loved one.
• We will notify the V.A. of your loved ones death and request all benefits that the Veteran is eligible to receive.
• We also will help you file your life insurance.
• We will help you to personalize your loved ones service as much or as little as you like.

Other Services

• When death occurs away from home, you can rely on Shaffer Funeral Home to take care of all arrangements to bring your loved one home. If death occurs out of our community or out of state, CALL SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME FIRST.   By calling us first, we will make all the arrangements from here and avoid duplication of services and CHARGES to your family.  We can arrange for transportation from anywhere in the world.
