Obituary for Mae Deen Pittman (Garvin)

Mae Deen Pittman (Garvin)
Mae Deen (Garvin) Pittman, 80, of San Angelo and Grape Creek, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 3, 2017 after a brief illness.
Mae Deen was born on September 30, 1937 in San Angelo, Texas and grew up in San Angelo. She was a housewife who enjoyed hobbies that included gardening, scrabble, family genealogy, and adopting little kitties.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 5, 2017 at San Angelo Greater Independent Methodist Church located at 104 East 17th Street. Arrangements are by Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.
She was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Makowsky, his stepfather and Mae Deen’s second husband, Don B. Pittman both of San Angelo; and parents, Edna Graves Garvin and Rush Garvin of Grape Creek.
Mae Deen is survived by her mate of many years, Raymond Henry Shrum of San Angelo; two brothers, Henry Garvin of Carbondale, Colorado and Joe Garvin of San Angelo; daughter, Paula Diane Pittman Medart of San Angelo; grandsons, Josh Makowsky of San Angelo; James “Jim” Medart and wife, Amber, and great grandson, Brayden; special great-granddaughter Mia Word; and Uno and baskets full of “fur babies”.
Known as “Mema” by many, Mae Deen invited many into her heart, and will be missed by many including extended family members daughter-in-law Melba Sue Wiseman, step grandsons, Jeremy Wiseman and John Chappa, John and Thomas Wilson and family; cousin, Debra Wahrmund and husband Jeff Wahrmund of Lexington, Texas, Debbie Martin Kleypas and Craig Kleypas of San Angelo and numerous other family members, friends, and loved ones. Like many real West Texans, Mae Deen was rough on the outside but soft on the inside and will be remembered by all who had the opportunity to know her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Critter Shack Rescue, P.O. Box 192, Wall, Texas 76957.
