Obituary for Scott Anthony "Tony" Barrett

Scott Anthony "Tony" Barrett
Scott Anthony "Tony" Barrett, 65, of Norton, passed peacefully on Sunday, June 25th, 2017. Tony was a lifelong resident of Coke and Runnels Counties, where he lived his life and raised his family.
Tony was born March 25, 1952 to Scott W. Barrett and Sue Dismore at the San Angelo clinic hospital in San Angelo, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his grand-parents, Curtis W. Barrett and Sallie M. Barrett of Norton, and W.H. "Huck" Dismore and Lou Dismore of Bronte; and a brother, Kim W. Barrett of Abilene.
Tony grew up in Norton, TX, attending grade school before moving to Bronte to complete his high school years. Tony worked as an oilfield contract pumper for 30 years. He and his dad owned Barrett's Oil Field Pumping Service, serving the West Texas oilfield area for many years. He was an accomplished calf-roper throughout his lifetime, traveling and competing in ropings. He was also a member of the West Texas Rodeo Association. Tony's love and passion for horses was constant throughout his life. Whether he was competing, day-working, or breaking a colt, he was the happiest when on horseback. Tony was notorious for his quick wit, individuality and sense of humor. Anyone who knew Tony, knew he was full of his own "Tony-isoms". Tony married Jolene Vaughn in 1972, from that union they had two daughters. Joni Sue and Brittany Jo. He was Paw-Diddy to his grand-children and he cherished every moment spent with them all. Tony touched the lives of many and lived the ultimate cowboy way.
Tony is survived by his daughter, Joni and husband Brandon Busby of Bronte; daughter, Brittany Barrett of Austin; sister, Jeri Ann Baker of Elliston, Virginia; and brother, Trey Baker of Sweetwater, TX. Tony also leaves behind his three beloved grandchildren, Saige, Saebri, and Brodie Busby.
There will be a visitation Friday, June 30, 2017 from 9am-8pm with family present from 5pm-7pm at Shaffer Funeral Home in Bronte, TX.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday July 1, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Bronte at Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to: Lance Bryan Memorial Fund, C/O Bryce Jupe: 1501 Olive Street, Jourdanton, TX. 78026 or East Coke County Ambulance Service: 114 S. Washington St., Bronte, TX. 76933
