Helen Louise (Jones) Adams was born July 1, 1924 to Alonzo Richardson Jones and Nola Frances (Wingo) Jones in Denver, Colorado. She graduated from South Denver High School in June of 1942.
She married John Turner Adams January 8, 1943 and had fifty-six years together. They enjoyed traveling. She and John moved to San Angelo in March, 1984. They soon met new friends and joined St. Paul Presbyterian Church. Both were active in RSVP and Code Blue. Helen volunteered at Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She received the Woman of Distinction award in 2009.
Helen was preceded by her parents, her husband, John; her son, Richard; two brothers, Jack and Joe; one sister, Mary; and one grandson, Brent.
She is survived by one son, Greg and his wife Janis of Siloam Springs, AR; Richard’s wife Linda of San Angelo; three grandchildren, Jeff (Rebecca) of Arvada, CO, Matt (Terra) of San Diego, CA and Chris (Jamie) of Shreveport, AL; and nine great grandchildren. Also, three step grandchildren, Laurie, Sherrie and Wendy; eight step great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 20, 2016 at St. Paul Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are by Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood way.
