K.F. (Fred) Moore passed away on September 5, 2016 at his home in Robert Lee after a lengthy illness.
Fred was born, August 18, 1943, in San Angelo, TX to W.F. and Inez Moore. Fred grew up in Rankin.
Fred served his Country honorably during the Vietnam War where he utilized his welding and construction skills to build a swing set for a South Vietnamese orphanage. Fred was Honorably Discharged from the service in December of 1965.
Fred and Sherriel married in December of 1967. Sherriel's two children were fortunate to be adopted and raised by Fred as though they were his own. Jeremy completed the family in January 1970.
Fred began his career as a welder in the west Texas oilfields. He then spent over a decade working on offshore platforms in Norway, Scotland and Ivory Coast as a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor. His career continued stateside with stints in Odessa, Pampa and Andrews, TX. He retired in Artesia, NM in 2005.
Fred is survived by his wife, Sherriel (Perk), daughter, Shannon and her husband Tom Lord, of Lubbock, TX, two sons, Jeremy of Robert Lee and Dennis and his wife Kim of Plano, TX, and four grandchildren, Trenton and Garrett Lord, Hailey and Tatum Moore, and three brothers, Gayle, Rell and Debs Gamblin. Fred's second family was the Southside Church of Christ in Robert Lee where his faith and relationship with the Lord grew in his later years.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on September 8th at Southside Church of Christ in Robert Lee, 801 Houston St., followed by a short graveside service at Robert Lee Cemetery.
Friends and family may call at the Shaffer Funeral Home, 901 Austin St., (325) 453-2424. Family will be in attendance 6-8 pm on Wednesday.
