Obituary for Leslie Ray Thompson

Leslie Ray Thompson, 68, of San Angelo went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 7, 2016.
Leslie was born in Sanderson, Texas on December 14, 1947 to Ray and Florence Thompson. He graduated from Lake View High School in San Angelo then enlisted in the Navy serving proudly from 1967-1971 at which time he went to work for Ethicon and remained there until he retired in 2009. It was there that he met the love of his life, Linda, whom he married on July 12, 1975. Leslie loved to golf, fish, coach and watch sporting events, especially if his grandkids were playing. He was a devoted member of Immanuel Baptist Church and he had a close, personal relationship with his Heavenly Father and personal Savior whom he accepted at age seven.
Leslie was preceded in death by his father, Ray Thompson; his mother, Florence Thompson; and his brothers, Larry and Lloyd Thompson.
Leslie is survived by his loving wife, Linda Thompson of San Angelo; his daughter, Pam Blanton and husband Dennis of San Angelo; his son, Ben Thompson and wife Tracy of San Angelo; his grandson, Jordan Blanton of Fort Hood; his granddaughter, Jade Blanton of San Angelo; his grandson, Duke Blanton of San Angelo; his granddaughter, Kelly Thompson of San Angelo; and his brother, Dana Thompson of Houston.
Visitation will be held all day Wednesday, August 10, 2016 with family present from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Immanuel Baptist church with Tommy Richardson officiating. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children’s Ministry at Immanuel Baptist Church in care of Danny and Diana Ortiz.
