Obituary for Reba Roberts Tabor

Reba Roberts Tabor
Reba Roberts Tabor, MeMa, passed from this earth September 28th, 2017 at Shannon Medical Center.
She was born November 5th, 1926 in the home of her parents, Will and Annie Davidson Woods. She lived in the Robert Lee area her entire life attending school and graduating from Robert Lee High School in 1946. After graduation, she went to work for the San Angelo Telephone Company as an operator in Robert Lee. On February 14th, 1948 Reba married Artell Green Roberts. To this couple a daughter was born on November 5th, 1949. In 1954 Reba enrolled in Jolley Beauty College and became a licensed beauty operator. In 1955 Reba opened her business, Reba’s Beauty Salon, which she owned and operated in down town Robert Lee for 23 years. After marrying Artell, Reba lived Southwest of Robert Lee on the farm that she and Artell owned and operated until his death in 1969. In 1981, she married Jim Tabor and they continued living on the farm until moving to town in 2002. At that time, she moved to Robert Lee and lived out her remaining years playing “88” with her friends weekly. Reba was the last surviving charter member of the ‘64 Study Club along with being a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a faithful member of the Robert Lee Baptist Church from age 16 up until her death at 90 years of age. Reba loved shopping for shoes, especially with her daughter Kaye and niece Glenda Miller. For more than 10 years the trio has gotten together in early November each year to celebrate the shared birthday of mother and daughter and would spend a full day shopping in San Angelo. She enjoyed watching her humming birds from her front porch and family gatherings in the home of her daughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Kaye Pitcock and son in-law Gaylon; grandsons, Blake Pitcock and wife Amy, Korey Pitcock and wife Lauren; and great grandchildren, Asher, Caleb, Mckinley and Abigail. Step-children, are Ted and Rita Weeaks, Glenna Tabor, Joyce Higdon and Jerry Tabor and wife Rebecca. Nieces, Glenda Miller and husband Clay and Billie Good and husband Eddie Paul.
Those preceding her in death are Artell Roberts, Jim Tabor; parents, Will and Annie Woods; in-laws, Green and Emma Roberts; half-sisters, Vivian Sparks, Novelle Pasley; half-brother, Roy Woods; and granddaughter-in-law, Sarah Pitcock.
Our family will be forever grateful to the nurses on 5 North at Shannon Medical Center for the love and care they gave to our MeMa along with the wonderful staff at the Robert Lee Care Center.
Visitation will be held all day Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the funeral home. The celebration of MeMa’s life will be Monday, October 2nd, 2017 at 11a.m. at the Robert Lee Baptist Church with burial following at the Robert Lee Masonic Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
